When we watch television, dial our phones, or listen to a radio, we know that we need to tune into an exact signal to get the connection we want. One digit can make the difference between tuning into what we want to see or hear and not connecting at all.
Fortunately, when it comes to our vibrational signal, what we are sending out to the Universe, there are ranges of vibrations that can bring us into the vicinity of our desires. Our vibration often fluctuates, depending upon how we are thinking, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. If you’re familiar with how your energy works to create your reality, you likely know that there is a wide range of emotions, an emotional scale, which correlates with the vibration we are sending out to attract things that match it. Checking in with how we are feeling in the moment can often give us a pretty accurate gauge as to how we are vibrating, and what we are a match to.
Although we don’t want to be so hyper-focused on our vibration that we are creating the emotion of worry or the feeling that we are not “doing it right,” it is definitely worth being a bit pickier than we sometimes are about how we are thinking.
Often, we think we are tuned into a certain vibration that is a match to our desires, especially when we are using some of the tools available for managing our vibration. Affirmations are a particularly good example of what can be a great tool, but often aren’t actually helping us to manifest what we want. When we can repeat an affirmation and feel faith and the belief that what we are affirming is true and on its way, an affirmation can be powerful and effective. When we’re repeating an affirmation that we really don’t fully believe is possible or even likely, we’re telling the Universe that we don’t really believe that we are going to manifest our desire. And, the Universe responds accordingly. It’s responding with “here you go, here’s more of not having that thing that you want.”
The Universe is listening to our vibration, not the specific words we use. Words can be powerful, but it’s our own interpretation of the words we are using and how we really feel about them that gives them power.
What I’ve found with many of my coaching clients and, of course, I’ll include myself in this group, is that we think we are putting out a particular vibe that is helpful and lined up with our desires, but there is actually a belief or an undercurrent of some kind that is undermining our vibration.
I will admit that it’s easier to identify those cross-currents in others. I will often find very juicy nuggets in client emails or updates that show me that their signal is a bit off on the topic. I have the benefit of being able to ask lots of questions and reflect on people’s responses and stories and find the hidden beliefs or unhelpful thoughts that are hindering their ability to create the changes they desire. When it’s our own thoughts that are undermining our vibration, it can be a bit trickier to sleuth out those unhelpful thoughts. But, it’s well worth the effort. Tending to that possibly subtle undercurrent can often mean the difference between staying where we are and changing our lives in just the way we want.
It’s important to hit pause often throughout the day and notice how we are really thinking about a particular issue that continues to crop up in our thoughts. We do have a fair amount of latitude to do an auto-correct, that is, realize how we are undermining our own desire with contrary thoughts and flip to thoughts that are actually consistent with what we are choosing to create.
When we are asking or, as I suggest, “thanking” the Universe for our new perfect home but our background thoughts are “it’s so hard to get a house right now, the good ones get taken right away,” we’re not exactly cooperating with the Universe to Allow our perfect home into our lives.
Abraham-Hicks has distinguished the different frequencies of gratitude vs. appreciation, which is a great example of how subtle these undercurrents can be:
When you feel gratitude, often you are looking at a difficulty that you have overcome, but there is still some of that “struggle” vibration present. The state of appreciation is seeing whatever you are looking at through the eyes of Source. You could walk down a crowded street with all kinds of things that a lot of other people would find reason to criticize or worry about, and you would not have access to them because your vibration of appreciation is picking out for you things of a different vibrational nature.
While the vibrational difference might seem subtle, it would definitely be so much better to lose the idea of “struggle” as a necessary ingredient to manifesting what you want. Appreciation, on the other hand, has no element of struggle but only of adding value to the thing that you are appreciating by your focus on it. That easily leads to manifesting more things to appreciate!
You may be thinking you’d like to manifest a relationship but also thinking that you don’t want to limit your independence. The Universe is hearing that you prefer your independence and assisting by giving you more of that.
If you find yourself thinking thoughts along the lines of “I’m just not good at . . .” or “this pattern of disappointment keeps happening for me so I’m not good at creating momentum,” or “I really want that but the change feels like it might be scary,” or “I really want to take care of that quickly and easily but it’s so complicated and has so many moving parts,” you will have identified the thoughts you need to clean up in order to stay on the pathway toward what you really want.
Just so you know that it’s not just you who may be miscreating by not actually being focused purely on your desire, I should mention that as I took a brief break from writing this post, I noticed myself focusing on something that I would like to change and my thoughts were not exactly helpful. They were something along the lines of “there’s no way that’s going to happen easily, it’s been going on for so long and it’s so complicated, I’m going to have to take care of that before the next step can happen and then that’s going to open up another can of worms.” That little burst of thoughts can’t possibly be helpful to the smooth and easy change I would choose. And, by the way, who says the solution has to be long and complicated and difficult? Oh yeah, that was me. I did nip in the bud any tendency to blame myself for having the unhelpful thoughts. That would be just, um unhelpful. Instead, I thought, “Good that you noticed that. You’re good at that. Now you have the chance to change your thoughts to line up with the smooth and easy solution you really want.” Immediately, that more supportive response will put you back on the pathway toward manifesting your desire by attracting more positive helpful thoughts.
Remind yourself, as I did in that case, that the situation only has the meaning that we give it. We can decide that it could be less complicated, easier, and could change on a dime.
Energy is moving faster than ever and manifesting can be easier than it’s ever been; we have greater access to that energy that is powerful enough to create anything that we desire. It’s definitely worth taking a few moments a few times a day to ask yourself what you’re really sending out to the Universe by thinking the thoughts you are thinking. It’s more than worth it. We know too much now about how our energy works to be tuned to the wrong station. Expect more ease and prepare for the Universe to surprise you with more and more things that are just what you’ve been wanting.
