What we need to know is always available to us, although when we’re in the midst of what appears to be a big challenge, it can feel like the answer is nowhere to be found. When the “challenge” feels like it has many moving parts, it can feel especially daunting.
The feeling is usually somewhere among the list of “Seriously, no!” “Why now?” “What did I do to deserve this?” and ultimately, “What am I supposed to do about this?” At this point, many of us ask our inner beings, guides, or anyone who might know something, “What would be most helpful for me to know right now?” Yeah, that question is a pretty standard go-to I’m quite familiar with!
What I do know for sure is that when we feel trapped, confused, anxious, as if we don’t have the answers, we are not in alignment with the way our Inner Being, Source, Infinite Intelligence, God, whatever feels best, is thinking about the subject.
Law of Attraction-savvy people know that when we feel emotions on the lower end of the emotional scale, it means that we are not in alignment with our Inner Being; our Inner Being is not viewing the situation in the same negative way that we are. Knowing that Source doesn’t agree with our panicked view of the situation doesn’t immediately supply the answer, but that knowledge should immediately provide some relief. “Oh, this is not the best way to think about this, and it’s not helpful” is very valuable information. And we can always discern that important truth when we are feeling lost, stuck, or challenged. That should always be one of our first thoughts when we realize that we are going nowhere fast with our current view of our situation.
I noticed that I was in that limbo land recently and was beginning a downward spiral (briefly!). An amazing reminder to find or receive that new helpful perspective popped up on my computer. Mike Dooley’s “Notes from the Universe” are always helpful and uplifting, and today, they were spot-on for me.
The Note from the Universe asked:
“What do you fear now?
What is this fear now telling you?
Every fear is a gift, though every gift needs unwrapping.”
It was a great reminder of what I already knew for sure: “My Inner Being DOES NOT agree with this somewhat fearful perspective I’ve been shifting into.” It also helped me realize that fear was even an element of my perspective. That often isn’t top of mind when beginning what could become a downward spiral. It can be surprising to know how often the emotion of fear is a part of what appears to be a really complex problem with no clear answer.
After acknowledging the element of fear and knowing that it isn’t aligned with our Inner Being’s perspective, it’s not so difficult to find a better feeling thought and then another. And asking ourselves, “What do I actually fear about this?” is a great next step. Often, when we are in that feeling of spiraling into thoughts with an even lower vibration, we haven’t taken the time to get to the bottom of what it is we are actually fearing about the situation. That’s very important to know. Sometimes, it can take that “uncomfortable gut feeling” to sense that there is some fear or anxiety about the situation. In my case, I could make a long list of thoughts that got me to that point. “Well, if that’s really what’s going on here, then that could happen. And, then that could happen. Oh, the timing would be terrible. And, then what would I do? I wasn’t planning for that. That would be a disaster.”
But, digging even a bit deeper into the question of what that fear was really telling me was where the epiphany came in loud and clear. If I was feeling fear about that issue, hmmm, wouldn’t that mean that I didn’t think I was in charge of creating my reality? Wouldn’t it possibly mean that I didn’t actually believe that things are working out for me? And, if I truly own those more powerful perspectives, then even if something that is suprising, or unplanned, or would require some readjustment does manifest, wouldn’t that be something that is giving me an opportunity for improvement and expansion? Um, yep. If I truly own those more powerful perspectives, wouldn’t I know that I have myself and the entire Universe behind me to create a new and improved scenario from any speed bump? Um, yep, again.
I know I’m the creator of all of this and that there is no reason to go down that murky pathway. It happens for all of us sometimes, but there is a fairly direct way out of the muck.
Those fears were telling me that I was momentarily doubting my power as a creator, my ability to use changes and circumstances to become an even better creator and create a new, more expansive reality.
That revelation led me to shift gears immediately. Those fearful thoughts seemed absurd, unwarranted, and not helpful—so not me!
It took such a short time to realize that, and it’s a strategy we can all use any time we go down a path that’s not in alignment with what we really know about our power as creators.
And, funnily enough, the whole situation that I briefly was fretting about and even imagining improbable bad outcomes, turned out to have not only a good outcome but a better outcome than I ever would have imagined before I had the moments of doubt.
Thank you, Mike Dooley, Universe and Inner Being. It’s so good to remember that even fear can be a gift. And it’s good to remember that the answers we need are often right there if we are receptive and open ourselves up to receiving what we want.
Put this in your repertoire of “go-to” solutions when you find yourself feeling the gift of fear. Our fear is always telling us something very good to know. And asking ourselves what that feeling of fear is telling us about what we believe about ourselves and our relationship with the Universe is an amazing way to leave the fear behind and create an even better outcome than we imagined.
We are all in this together.
